Henrique Sá Pessoa the top Portuguese winner at the ‘red bible’ gala
Two years ago, we celebrated the meteoric achievement of our first Michelin Star. In 2017, we maintained the star and, this year, the chef and the entire Alma team were bestowed with two stars.
The good news about this double-star was announced on 21 November, at the ceremony to present the Portugal and Spain Michelin Guide 2019, held in Lisbon for the first time, at the Carlos Lopes Pavilion. One more reason for the chef, the team and the whole country to feel proud. In the words of Henrique Sá Pessoa: “It doesn’t feel real yet! We’re very happy for this enormous recognition of our Alma. It was a year of intense work by this fantastic team and we thank the Michelin Guide for their confidence in our work! We will continue on our path and continue doing what we like most!”
The ALMA restaurant, Sá Pessoa’s first independent project, achieved the unmatched feat in Portugal of receiving its second star in merely three years. “We are immensely proud to have received the second star within such a short timeframe, thanks to an absolutely amazing, motivated and committed team. Obviously, from now on we will all feel greater responsibility, since our major challenge is to maintain quality, excellence, consistency, not only after this magical evening, but during all 365 days of the year”, said Rui Sanches, founder of Multifood Group.
